Pre-op liquids.. only getting 400ish calories.. Bad idea?

I'm not a huge fan of the meal replacement shakes, so I've made do without all 5 of them as suggested by the nutritionist. I'm suppose to be having 800 cals a day though. I'm just not really hungry anymore so I only have one for breakfast and one for dinner at 180cals each. The rest of the day I have SF Jello and Popsicles. I haven't had broth in a few days because I just haven't felt hungry for it.

So, my question is, am I doing myself harm by so few calories?.. Should I just force myself to have more? I don't want to kill my metabolism by not 'eating'. I noticed I've been stalled a few days and can't help but wonder if it's an effect from my diet.

On a side note.. Surgery is in a few days!! Yay!!

I would try to get your cals in before surgery.. I can only imagine you don't want to go into this more depleted than you need to be. That first week post op is a ***** try to stay as nutritionally sound as you can while you still can!

I think you're doing fine as long as you don't feel dehydrated ... my surgery is on Friday, and I too get about 500 cals/day and my nutritionist said that was fine as long as I make sure I'm drinking plenty of water. From what I understand, the more weight you lose pre-op the smoother your surgery & recoup will go.

I agree with Jo...I would try to get in a few more calories. Recovery kinda sucks and protein will be your bff and make it easier. So do your best to get in a couple more of those shakes, even if you don't wanna.

Also, DRINK MORE FLUIDS. I notice you aren't mentioning water at all and I hope you are drinking. You don't want to set yourself up for dehydration. The pre-op diet is all about making healthy habits for postop so get in the rhythm of drinking tha****er now.
