I love kickboxing at 24 hour fitness. I am concerned that I will not be able to do it for awhile after surgery. There is alot of kicking, bouncing around, jumping jacks..I am really concerned about doing intense cardio. anyone else kickbox? or have any advice?
Thanks

Hi  thank you for my birthday wish...

My son just bought me pink boxing gloves and I do it with him and never took a class.
since I have received these cute gloves I have  thought about taking a class. I also
belong to 24 hour fitness.

Usually post op peeps are released to do  strenuous activity or exercise at 6 weeks out.
Your doctor will let you know.  This is if you had a normal recovery and no complications.

If you love kickboxing that much and i hear that is the greatest workout class over any
and you combine that with your sleeve recovery.  WOW...  You will have great weight loss
like this girl I ran accross here. That is all she did was take classes since 6 weeks out
and her numbers every month were great...  but she also followed sleeve food plan to
a "T"  it was the combination of both.

I used to take a high intense cardio kickbox class at NYSC in NYC and let me tell you the surgery will def. affect you in class, i suggest skipping it for awhile until you are fully healed and ready to jump around.  After my c-section I couldn't do it for almost 2 months! May be shorter time for you as this surgery is much more minor than a c-section.

Good Luck~!

I have kick boxed and practiced MA for 25 years. I'm 7 months post op. I resumed MA training at 5 mo out, but still don't free spar. I am not ready to get kicked in the stomach yet.

Too many risks. I will wait until I am a full two years out before sparring again.

I actually just started a kickboxing class with my brother at Title Boxing and I have to say I LOVED IT!  I know that I definitely burned some calories in that class, hoping it will bump me out of this stall I've been experiencing!

You are allowed to walk, elliptical train right after surgery... but no ab work.  I wasn't cleared for ab/strenous bootcamp type workouts until I was 6 weeks.  I'm two months out now and could totally do the kickboxing class.  What a great work out!!  It will help you lose weight faster too!
