Costs Associated With Surgery

So I was really excited initially when the coordinator from the hospital called me today. I was actually thinking "it's about time." Well he called to kindly explain to me that I have a copay. Ok no big deal that's to be expected. Well the copay is $500. Again no big deal until... in his next breath, he managed to explain that my insurance covers 80%. So that brings me to a grand total of $3,400 that I have to pay by TOMORROW . I just held the phone for a few seconds. Part of me wanted to scream, but the rational and spiritual part of me said nope, this can't be happening. To come so close only to have it not happen. NO! I was not having it! I asked to speak to a billing manager immediately. I worked out a payment arrangement whereas I pay 25% down ($715), and I have to pay the rest in monthly installments  Needless to say, I am one happy girl right about now.

Doing great thank you.

I have already decided I better ask the Doctor on Thursday when he removes the staples..."did you really do the surgery or just poke some holes and close me back up?"...haha....

I really do feel well.  No gas pain in the chest or shoulder, no problems with drinking my water or protein drinks and today I walked at Wal-mart with the aid of my hubby and managed to walk half of the store before I said, "time"...and sat for a few.  ...It's a great ride so far.  Thank the good Lord above for holding my hand through this long long journey to this stage and as we all move forward.

Keep posting how you are doing please, will sure keep you in my prayers.

These post help so many and I would have been lost without this forums honest and helpful people and their prayers!!

You know Paige, I was thinking...You can't really put a price on your health. I still consider myself blessed that the insurance company is gonna pay 80%. Thanks for responding.

I believe at least some of it will be deductible on your taxes, if you itemize (depending).

I had the same thing. Hospital wanted 3200. I paid all but a thousand and will pay the rest in increments. Last time I had major surgery the hospital bill was the last to be paid by my insurance and I had to wait for a refund of my overpayment so I could pay everyone else!
