Fighting for the sleeve in Oregon!
I have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Oregon,Federal and am appealing for the sleeve. I am qualified for RNY or Lapband. I can't have either because I need to be able to take NSAIDS for various reasons. I received a letter asking for more information and proof. It wasn't another NO but it wasn"t a yes either. I am still wondering if anyone in Oregon has been approved with BC/BS fed. ?
I have been working towards this for almost a year! I have done everything to qualify myself... so tired of waiting and wondering!

I have FEP BCBS as well but was denied. VSG is a coverable procedure according to the FEP BCBS 2011 handbook. After a denial and appeal by my local BCBS, I appealed to OPM and the denial was reversed by the ins co.
I am not sure what additional information they are asking for. How is it stated in the letter? Are requesting additional information from you or you Medical Doctors? In my initial appeal they requested additional information from my doctors as well. I had to stay on top of my doctors to make sure they sent the information. In some instances, I requested that the Drs send me the information and I inturn sent it to the Ins co.
But at any rate I found that it is best to include in your appeal that according to the FEP BCBS 2011 handbook, this is coverable procedure as long as you me the requirements set by FEP.
Good luck let me know if you need any help.
