For those of us on this board who have just been sleeved this week, I thougt it might be a good idea to bounce around some recipes/ideas during the full liquid phase. I'm bored already with broth and jello. Any other ideas? Vets please help also. Super Thanks~

I got bored of those too. Juice was also allowed for me, I had apple and cranberry (no sugar added tho). I had a lot of swelling, eating was hard. I was pretty food avoidant the first week.

By second week I admit I added thinned tomato soup. That got me through a lot. Hope others have more to offer.

Whole milk is what my doc suggested. A small glass a day.  As soups went I liked creamy and tomato soups- broths by week three made me sick to even look at them.  I also liked heating V8 up and sipping it like a soup.  Also don't be afraid to check out baby food sections- some of them are actually pretty tasty.

And use your baby silverware until you learn not to try and swallow a full spoon full at once that will hurt.

For me it was drinkable yougurt, runny oatmeal, sugar free pudding, protein shakes, and thin soups. I was eating mashed broccoli by the end of week two and some soft regular food like tofu by week three.

Jello/Lite Cool Whip is a great dessert. Also, if you can find them, CarbMasters yougurts are really amazing.

I am allowed runny grits and cream of wheat on my plan. I ate both and I feel good. I strained cream of chicken, mushroom, and aparugus soups. Good as well!

I found that Won Ton Soup is the best! Without the Won Tons of course. I had DH strain it for me before he brought it in because just looking at those dumplings would make me wanna chew. It is so flavorful and goes down well. I got in 6 ounces of it today! Yay!

Also I ordered some jello online that has 23 grams of protein in it. It's called Protein Snack. I like the Tropical Fruit Flavor the best so far.

Thanks for the replies. Keep em coming.

Careful with the protein snacks, the protein in them is not well absorbed for post-ops. Talk to your nut, or surgeon about them.

So my surgeon had a distinction between clear liquids (first 10 days), which would be things like broth, jello, SF popsicles, Isopure protein, Crystal lite, etc., and full liquids (next 10 days) - anything liquid without any solids.  I wasn't allowed baby foods, Malt-O-Meal, applesauce, et****il the mushy stage, the third 10-day period.

For the full liquid stage, it was protein powders, drinkable yogurt, milk, soups (strained if it had stuff in it, like mushroom soup), things like that.  I still have some of the soups I bought for that period, because nowadays soup fills me up but doesn't offer enough protein, so I don't eat it much.

My favorite thing during this phase was something I never would've thought I would go for, but it's Campbell's Green Pea soup (not split pea). No straining needed as it has no chunks, and you mix it with water instead of milk, so it shouldn't bother you if you're a bit lactose intolerant, as many of us are for a while after surgery. It was surprisingly tasty, went down well, and it caused little or no cramping. I would make a whole can of it, then portion out 1/4 cup servings into the little snack-sized baggie and freeze them, and microwave one whenever I felt a bit hungry.

Worked for me. YMMY.
