Lemon? 1 week out...

Hello!

I am just shy of one week out and am CRAVING some lemon in my broth. I have always put a lot of lemon or limes in my soups, and I am wondering if this is okay?

I know a lot of people mention putting lemon in water to get fluids in, so why not in broth? Anyone tried it and okay?

Also, I was thinking of going to this vietnamese restaurant to get the broth of a soup I love there, but it's very sour-y so I think it migh be made with lemon too.

Just thought I would check before I take the plunge.

Thanks!

I don't think it would hurt anything as long as you make sure not to get pulp or seeds.. take it easy and make sure it doesn't upset you new tummy.. but always follow you doctors orders... I had orange juice and tomato juice about 1 wk out to stop my craving for food..

Try  the TRUE LEMON packets. They put them on my tray in the hospital and gave me extra to take home. I put it in tea and water, and it's the BEST! Pure lemon juice might work also. I hope it goes well in your soup. Take Care

Phewww! What a relief!

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I have a huge bowl of them here at home, so I will start with just a little and wait it out to see if the tum tum likes it. :)

Thanks again!

If you're going to do it, take it slow would be my answer. The reason you may want to wait a bit longer is because of the acidic properties of citrus and that could agitate you new tiny tummy (especially the staple line while it's healing). So, take it slow and see how it goes.

I had my surgery 9/12/11, they gave me lemon juice packets in the hospital for tea, so I continued using it at home (it was real lemon juice, not the powder packet) I didn't feel any irritation at all.  I also take 1 pepsid a day, which may be helping.  My doctors told me to try everything new in moderation. So maybe just try a little and listen to what your tummy says about it.
