6 months...my, how my life has changed. Almost 70# down and while it has slowed, it has not stopped. I have no anxiety over this because I know I am doing what it takes. I mentioned this to a friend the other day and she put it so eleoquently..."Linda, that's because you surrendered before you even had this surgery. You were willing to do what you needed to do to succeed." I thought about that for a while and it was true. I had surrendered, but it wasn't a sad surrender. It was a surrender to stop killing myself and live the life I was meant to have. Today, if I never lose another pound, I am happier with myself all around. I don't miss the bread, potatoes and crap I ate. When I make the choice to eat some of those things, I find it doesn't FEEL as good in my tummy as it used to....so I mostly don't bother with that anymore. I know I read people posting about this phenomenom when I was pre op, but I couldn't imagine EVER not craving bread & potatoes. They were the staple of my life. (Never liked sweets). But now I see why this works for me. I will always choose a protein over mostly anything. It feels good in my stomach and it satisfies me like those other things used to. But I am not left kicking myself for eating a protein. For me, this really was a magical surgery. Not because it was easy, cuz nothing worth having really is easy, but because when I surrendered, I opened myself up to other options that were better for me. I listened to what the veteran success stories had to tell. Do I follow things to the letter 100%...oh no...I am far from perfect. But I keep a positive attitude, MAKE CHOICES and move forward. You won't see me crying on here cuz I had a drink or ate a french fry, cuz I know when I am making those choices I am the only one responsible for me and the next day, I will be back on track and not looking back. I work out 6 days a week and for the 1st time in my life I look forward to it...every night? nahhh...but most nights I am dressed to go work out as soon as I get home from work. I live in the here and now cuz that's all we have. Take what you need and leave the rest. What I do will not be everyone's cup of tea. I am just sharing my experience.
