Protein: Unjury/Syntrax nectar/Jay Robb vs WalMart

Hi everyone!  I have done well with samples of Unjury, Syntrax nectar chocolate truffle, and Jay Robb.  Can anyone recommend a brand available at WalMart that compares?  I'm really worried about spending $20 bucks on a tub and finding it yuck!

thanks so much!

Stick with what you already like. IMHO nothing at Walmart will compare and you will waste money.  Look for sales online of the products you like.

I don't know...honestly Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle is the only one I've tried that doesn't taste like a protein drink to me.  And I've tried a bun*****luding a couple from Walmart.

I was fine with most pre-op and even the first couple of weeks post-op, but for some reason have developed an aversion to even the ones I used to like.  If it wasn't for chocolate truffle, I'd never meet my protein goal.

Good luck in your search though.  There are some less expensive ones at GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe, and they will let you return (or maybe just exchange?) it if you don't like it.

good news if you like the nectar shakes.  i love those.  the big tubs are only like $30 at vitamin shope.  if you don't have one near you they have a website too and amazon is great for discounted purchases too.

also, as a tip don't waste your money on any of the shake that you see that are like "one shake has 45gm protein in 4 scoops and 8oz water" because, as i'm sure you know, you want the most protein for the littlest amouth of powder but also....

my nutritionist said, and this is true, that the body only absorbs 20gm of protein at a time.  so anything else you're just going to pee out anyway.  expensive pee.  lol.

hope this helped

My current favorite is Syntrax Nectar in Wild Cherry and Crystal Sky.  They also have a creamy cappuccion that is outstand.  I have done so many shakes that I was getting tired of chocolate and vanilla.  Someone passed a great email on to me with over 50 different shake recipes.  I will send it if you like.

you are better off paying for a good protein powder that you like.  Most of the proteins at Wal-mart do not offer the same nutritional benefits.

I still have 2 weeks of pre-op diet before submission to Insurance but would love the recipes if you are willing to share.

Thanks

I like the fuzzy navel nectar protein but I add orange flavored crystal lite to it to make it have a little sweeter taste. It's the only one I will drink.
