Congratulations; your journey has begun!
Don't know if you have a pre-op diet or not, but, regardless, get off the sugar, simple carbs, soda, and caffeine NOW! Your body will thank you for it in the weeks post-op. Also, start drinking water like a fish.
Immediately post-op, as soon as the doc says you can, start taking short walks, even just a minute or two, every half hour or so. It will speed your healing and help dispel gas.
Also, as soon as you are cleared for sips of liquid, start taking teeny tiny sips almost constantly through the day. One tiny sip, wait a minute; another tiny sip, wait a minute.... Keep your sippy cup, or whatever you choose to use, in your hand constantly. It will make a huge difference in how you feel.
You will do just fine with your surgery, and the pounds will start dropping off if you follow your surgeon's guidelines to a tee. We'll scoot over and make room for you on the losers' bench!!

Congratulations! You have lot's of amazing days ahead of you!
My advice is to have a positive attitude. Believe that you will have an easy recovery, trust in those taking care of you, show initiative in walking and sipping, and focus on the good things instead of the bad.
This truly is an amazing process and a life changing event. Embrace your journey and be enthusiastic about the process.
If you have bad moments or bad days, know that there are many more good moments and good days to come and focus on them.
This is the best thing that I have ever done. I am only 7 weeks out, but my life is different in ways that I could never have imagined before surgery.
