Hello! I have read lots and lots of threads on this and some people say the DRs say its bad and other say its all about technique and how you work the sleeve.

My Dr will only use a 40. I know that technically the difference is very little, but want to make sure I will still lose the same, I have alot to go!!

Thanks in advance!

I was just sleeved eight days ago with a 40.  I was a little sad when she told me the size, but I haven't had any of the problems that I see a lot of other people having this early out.  No stricutre type problems, able to drink easily - not fast like before, but easily,  I understand i still have a lot of swelling, but two ounces of protien drink fills my up, and i have to wait ten minutes or so before drinking another ounce.

My plan is to undereat my sleeve - and i hope to all that is good and holy, that i can do it.  I wish i could say my surgery was two years ago and i am at goal, but maybe in november 2013, i can tell another person, for certain, that it will all work out.  all i can do for now is say, i plan to make it work.

good luck!

My doctor uses a size 40 also and based on some research there is a only a tiny bit of difference from size 32-40, it would not be enough to hasten or slow down weight loss or stretch out to any scary size.

I am three years out maintaining effortlessly reached goal at 10 months and my surgeon used a 48.there is alot to take into consideration how long your stomach is, technique but most important is your mind set if you know the diffrence is a teaspoon of food or so you have to know that , that amount of food welk not make any difference in your weight loss, ignore the size forget about it so not important I was successful and continue to be and so can you. Best wishes to you

The bougie is the tool that the Dr uses to make the size of your new stomach.

My doctor uses a 40 also. No problems for me. I am one year out, made it to my goal in 6.5 months. I have great restriction. I do weigh/measure my foods and don't eat until full. I can eat 4-6 oz total at a meal usually and am satisfied with that. You will get a lot of opinions probably. I think technique probably is more important than the bougie size anyway.
