I know it depends alot on insurance and a ton of other factors, but I was trying to get an idea of how long it will be before I can actually get the procedure done? My husband and I have our first appt with Dr. Averbach 2/17 and r both super excited but ofcourse my husband keeps asking me how long til we can get it done and IDK. What r some of your experiences? If u don't mind...
We do not have the 6 month dietician restriction that many do thankfully so we're hoping for a speedy process and being on our way to skinny by the summer!!!
Thanx to all of u for the support this site provides! This is an amazing life change... it's so nice we can go thru it together!

i am a lapband to sleeve revision...my exp.... i went to my bari dr. on nov 29th, got all of my tests done during the month of dec.....ekg,endo,bloodwork, chest xray....and my surg was jan 18th...i had to repeat the bloodwork a week before my surg. cause it expired.....originally, i think the whole process from consult to banding took two months, but i had shown proof of years of weight loss attempts and weigh ins from my pcp.......good luck
I slipped in under the wire before my insurance had instituted a 3 month diet requirement. From the time I went to the information session to surgery was about 6 weeks. From the time I saw the surgeon, my surgery was scheduled a week and a half later. A couple of weeks of the time was getting the insurance approval. The rest was just getting in to see the surgeon and get the date. I had to do a cardiac stress test because of the cardiac history I have, but didn't have to do an EGD (I had no history of reflux, GERD or indigestion) or the sleep apnea test.
So, it really does depend on your insurance, what pre-op testing your doc wants done, and when his schedule is open. Best of luck to both of you!

Thx guys! that's what I was hoping to hear! I'm hoping no more than 6 wks-ish... really hoping more like a month :-) but it sounds like it shouldn't be a problem! I'm hooked on this site n gettin excited... Thx again and keep up the good work!!!
I"m sure it 's different for everyone. My insurance cordinator says I had to have all my 5 year history in to her. She'll send sent in to UHC and THEN I'll find out if there's any other requirements. This is what else my insurance (UHC) requires. It's one big PITA.
It took me a month to get all the information. (I'm kicking myself for not going to the same doctor all that time. lol ) I had to go so far as to ask UHC for old claims. That took 2 weeks.
Now I'm waiting for my cordinator to get all the faxes and look through them. Hopefully, that won't take too long. I hate not having any control now. I have no idea what I weighed during 2008-2009. (I had done weigh****chers, lost 55 lbs and had fought hard to keep it off. It would be ironic if I fought too hard.)
