What 8 months and a VSG will do to you..
I started working with a food pyschologist 8 months before I even told anyone I wanted to have surgey as kind of a preparation for my brain. I still see her every week and she definitely helps with the self esteem. I grab sizes that are too big off the shelf at stores, I leave more room than I need to when I am walking around something, I look in the mirror and see a 300 pound person, but it takes time for your brain to catch up with reality and slowly but surely mine is. I can honestly say that I am excited about my weightloss and my self esteem is definitely better than what it was before surgery, but I know that it will only continue to increase as time goes on.
I have had some of the same issues myself, I look in the mirror and see the old me the 261 pound person, I cleaned my closet out and got rid of all the clothes that represented that person. I still by clothes that are to big and have to return them because I just grap a size and did not try them on. I went so far as to cut my hair off and change my hair color thinking that it would help me see a new person. I am starting to work with a pyschologist and a therapist myself to help with the whole process of catching up with the reality of everything myself. I am so very excited about my weightloss and my self esteem is also better now than what it was, I can't wait to go home to see my family (they live 1500 miles away) this summer. My husband and kids say I look great but I refuse to let my parents and in-laws see photos of me until I come home and they see me in person. They have not seen me since before my surgery.
Can I ask, did it hurt getting your tattoo on your wrist? I have been told that they hurt there, I was considering having one put on my ankle to represent my surgery and weightloss.

I have my feet tattooed, so compared to that my wrist was a walk in the park. It was uncomfortable, didn't feel great but didn't hurt enough to make me not want to fini**** It only took about 40 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I was walking out with my new ink. I also have my other wrist done but it is on the side, so it did not go over the tendon in the middle (that did hurt). I have the inside of my ankle and the back of my other ankle, they were the least painful of all.

OMG! You are beautiful! I am not second guessing myself anymore after this post. Come hell or high water, I am having surgery on the 21st. You are so inspiring! Wishing you continued success.

Wow you look fabulous! I absolutely love your tattoo. I have been trying to think of a tattoo for myself.
