y r they so worthless when u need them most!!! I swear... that's been the worst f'in part of this whole process... having records faxed to no where!!! it's so rediculous to have to call and have stuff faxed 5 plus times!!! Technology seriously sux sum days!

And my surg. coordinator now has me petrified, UHC typically requires a 6 month pre-op diet... however, I was told by 3 different reps, 3 different times that UHC through MCPS does NOT require it, and she just told me that another lady had been told it's not required and just found out she was told wrong! I mean, obviously I'll do it if I end up having to be, but I will be extremely pissed and their whole company will never hear the end of it from me! I could have been doing it all this time, if I'd have known it would be required! LOL ~ I hate being lied to!!!

by diet what they may mean is just eating healthy and normal according to the food guide...nothing too drastic...My clinic has it on their requirements list but its just a followed plan more than anything...cutting out extras like pop and junk food etc...

good luck!!!

PS: I too agree that fax machines are POS's.... I prefer scanning and emailing

Sry, i should have worded that differently... a 6 month dr supervised diet, it's required by alot of insurance companies, some only require 3, some 12, some not at all... some say u have to meet with a Dr, others a dietician or nutritionist... but u have to meet with them once a month for 6 months... so if indeed mine has that stipulation (even tho i was told 3 times it doesn't) I have to go see my dr for 6 mos in a row before they will approve me to have the surgery :-(

It all depends on the agreement between your employer & UHC. I had heard UHC required it so I started it prior to getting switched to UHC in Jan. from Coventry that covers nothing related to weight loss. If you choose to be upsert with anyone it would be your employer, they set those standards. Once I got switched I found out it wasn't required.

If you are required it's a good opportunity to start those healthy changes needed to succeed with the sleeve. Time will go by quickly, although it doesn't seem like it now.

Best wishes!!

Thx for responding... I know it's the employer that decides... and i was told by the UHC for MCPS 3 diff times that alot of UHC req it but MCPS(UHC) does not, so i wouldn't be mad at UHC or the MCPS/UHC reps that misinformed me, but rather the obviious breakdown of communication, if that's the case!!! I'm still hoping like hell that the reps were correct and MCPS chose not to have that requirement tho :-) and i know that if they do i will put the time to use eating better (as I am now****il surgery, but none the less it will be a HUGE bummer to think i'm done now and getting surgery in a couple of weeks, then to find out NOPE i'm just starting and surgery wont be for 6 or 7 mos....

Congrats on it not being required for u... hope i'm in that same boat!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

I work with fax machines every day. They are the most unreliable means of communication. not to mention our machines are older than dinosaurs.

I also had UHC and I confirmed with my bariatric nurse or whatever she was called about the 6 month dr. supervised diets. MY plan did not require it, thanks to the company I work for. She said I was one of the very FEW who did not have to do it. Alot of them do, but there is a really good chance that yours is like mine and your company put a clause to not require the 6 month supervision. Good Luck!

they have been really my only source of anxiety in this process! LOL.... i almost feel like i'd have been better of having ppl mail the paperwork, it would've been faster in most cases!

Thank u so much for the encouragement! I was completely confident in what they said, until the coordinator started up with the whole u might wanna start one just in case... and like 3 different times in the last week she's said it and she just has me all crazy over it! Nice to hear of 2 ppl that didn't! it puts me much more at ease :-)

Good Luck to you too!!!
