What was worse: VSG or Gallbladder surgery??

I have been having an intermittent pain on my right side under my ribcage. It is getting worse, and I am afraid that its my gallbladder. I have been taking the meds since surgery to try and avoid gallstones. I will be 5 months out tomorrow, and have lost 50 lbs (which I didnt think was rapid enough to cause gallbladder issues). Anyway, I had a TERRIBLE recovery from VSG - severe nausea, pain, etc. Only lasted about a week but it was bad enough to scare me from having another surgery. I have been putting off calling the surgeon for an US hoping that it would get better, and my husband is having surgery mon so right now I need to take care of him.
For those that had gallbladder removed in a separate surgery from VSG - how did it compare? Did you have any nausea post op? How many incisions? I already have 4 from VSG - anyone have them go in using the same incisions? How long were you off from work? Did your bariatric surgeon remove your gallbladder?
Thanks so much for any input!

I was more nauseated with my VSG. I went on a very bland, no fat diet for 4 days before the GB surgery. Because we're a military family, all surgeries are performed through "General Surgery" and I demanded that my assisting bariatric surgeon do my GB surgery. I had an extensive history with my VSG and my primary surgeon was deployed. Dr. R was familiar with my case and had been managing my care since Dr. M was deployed.
I wasn't emplyed so no time off work for me, but I was on restricted activity for 6 weeks. That restriction is because of the additional exploratory he performed while in there. . He used the same incisions, but I gained a new incision in my bellybutton. I was also scoped and had a lot of scar tissue, adhesions removed from abdominal cavity during the gallbladder surgery. My pain/discomfort was related to the adhesion removal more than the gallbladder issues. I took pain meds the first day home and then 800mg Motrin for pain since narcotic pain meds often cause me constipation. I was up and walking out of recovery within 1.5 hours, and home shortly thereafter. I drank grape juice and ate some Teddy Graham crackers before they'd let me go home.
Overall, it was much easier, less painful, and I had immediate relief from my GB symptoms.

The pain afterwards is about equal.
Sleeve might be a tiny bit worse, but not much. I had more intense pain with gall bladder, but I had more consistant pain with sleeve. So, it's equals out.
Example: It was hard to get out of bed in the morning after gall bladder surgery.
It was easier with sleeve, but sleeve gave me more constistant pain during the day.

I had myu gallbladder removed at 18, so almost 10 years prior to VSG and hands down VSG was 10x worse. I was up and about after gallbladder in just a few days, VSG was at least a week. I think perhaps VSG is so bad because 1 it's painful, 2, you are having to learn a new lifestyle at the same time and that makes it harder. When you hurt and are stuck at home after surgery, you want to comfort eat (at least i do) and you can't with VSG so that makes it more difficult.
Good luck!
