Hi!  I was wondering the following:

How far out are you?
Do you take fiber supplements?
If so, what type?
How often?

I'm 6.5 months out (not a vet) and I do not take fiber.  Occasionally I have constipation and I take a Colace and that seems to take care of the problem.

How far out are you?  I am almost 11 months out.
Do you take fiber supplements?  Yes
If so, what type?  Fiber gummies. 4-5 days a week I have a Quest bar, which has 17-18 grams of fiber.  2 gummies have 4 grams fiber and 15 calories.
How often? On days without a Quest bar, 2-3 times a day.  On days with a Quest bar, 1-2 times a day.

I looked at Benefiber, and it has less fiber for the same amount of calories.  I really want to wean myself off of fiber supplements, but even with a little veggies in my diet, it seems like I need the supplements to keep things moving...

You go 2-3 times a day without a Quest bar and 1-2 times with?  With this frequency why do you need anything at all? I go once a day without supplements although i do have an occasional 1/2 quest bar but it never varies from once a day. Before surgery it was 4 times a day.  I guess i'm just efficient. Ha!

 Lol... I mean that I take fiber supplements 2-3 times a day, on days that I don't eat a quest bar.  On days that I have a quest bar, I take fiber supplements 1-2 times a day :)

 I have major issues with constipation, but fiber supplements usually clog things up even more and make me so gassy that I can't deal with it.  I do eat veggies, but its almost impossible to get enough fiber in that way. I might try the quest bars soon.

I like the Natural Line of the Quest bars...  Getting a variety pack was a great way to find out the flavors that I like.

I like all of the Natural Line flavors, except the Chocolate Peanut Butter one (it's kinda boring).

I have tried one of their Original bars, the peanut butter and jelly one, and did not like it.

I'm 7 months out.  I take fiber gummies twice a day, on most days.  I have been able to increase my fiber intake from food too, so some days, if things are flowing too well, I skip the gummies.  When things are a bit clogged, I take 3 gummies instead of 2.  Smooth Move tea at those times help as well.  The other thing for me is that, being post menopausal, I don't need as much iron as I did before.  I eat enough beans and red meat to get some iron almost daily.  I checked with the NUT, and then later with the surgeon, and no longer take vitamins with a lot of iron.  My bloodwork a couple of weeks ago from my annual physical, was all good.  I would not recommend stopping the iron without checking with the NUT and surgeon, and for many people, it is needed on-going.

I take 2 fiber gummies per day but they make me gassy so I would like to work my way off of them.

I've always been gassy!  LOL  So I never gave it a thought that the fiber gummies could be contributing to the problem.  I'll have to try not taking them and see what happens.  Thanks for the tip!
