First, he's at the eye specialist because he got a piece of metal from the machies at work in his eye...

Second, he calls me to tell me....NOTHING!!! Only that he's getting a contact lense on his eye for protection...okay..from WHAT?! He didn't ask the doctor for what!!!

Third, calls me back and tells me it's because there is piece of the wire brush from the machine right in the middle of his pupil...EMBEDDED!!!!!

I'm so stressed right now I'm about to go and scarf a whole bag of left over kettle chips from the office lunch!!!!!

He's driving me nuts with the "no questions, let the doctor do what he wants" routine!!!!! And I can't be there because I'm the only one left in my department with no back up until 7pm!!!

This is the first time since surgery I just wanna gorge on comfort food!!!! I think  I need saving...

I don't know if this will help...but understanding emotional eating beyond the triggers can sometimes be helpful.  So you felt frustrated, angry, out of control and overwhelmed...well at least I think that is what I heard.  Emotional eaters when faced with those feelings almost always reach for things that are crunchy like the chips you suggested, popcorn, etc.  While healthier people might go for a run pounding the pavement, or perhaps use a boxing bag to let their fists pound out the feelings....emotional eaters do it with food.

When people who are emotional eaters feel sad, hurt, lonely and overwhelmed they reach for softer foods such as chocolate, cookies, mashed potatoes, pasta etc.

The trick is to find a substitute food, like you did today....and apple has crunch and still allowed you to work out that frustration.  I don't know if that helps...but research has proven it is the truth.
