It was one year ago yesterday that I had my sleeve! What a blessing it was!
I am one year out now and having my sleeve done was the best thing I've ever done for myself! I started at 217 lbs. and I am now 134 lbs! I reached my goal after about 8 months and I've been maintaining easlity. Actually, it would be easy to lose a few more pounds, but I am trying to hold at this weight for now. I feel great and I have a lot of energy. I am 56 and I don't like my wrinkly skin on my stomach and bottom, but I may get that fixed in the future. I look fine in clothes so, for now, I'm okay...!
I can eat anything, but I choose to eat things that digest easily for me because I don't like the full feeling many foods give me. Meats, pasta, rice, breads all fill me up very fast so I don't eat a lot of these. I do well with salad, fruit, cheese, yogurt, most protein bars and drinks. I kept track of every bite I ate during the losing phase to be sure I got enough protein each day, using the Spark People app on my phone. I still drink Propel daily.
I walk for exercise and I feel good with that. I walk a lot in my work as a nurse, too. I take Calcium and vitamins, but I do admit that I don't take them every day...
I can't believe it's been a year already and I am so glad that I took the risk and helped myself become a healthier person!
Do I feel skinny? No...I'm not skinny...! I'm at a healthy weight, but I'm not skinny. Do I feel fat? Sometimes. That is the hardest part to change. Taking up a lot of space as a fat person is hard to just eliminate from my brain. I remember it when I get into an airline seat, a seat at a concert, etc. Years of being embarrassed by my size does not just disappear...this is an ongoing change I am adjusting to. But, I am loving the process of change!

Congratulations on your success and Surgiversary :)
Thank you for sharing so much. I'm three months out and I'm noticing I have good and bad days. Some days I feel just as fat or even fatter than I was. Starting weight was 223 and I'm at 176 now. Goal for me is 125 yikes.
I have been wondering if the mental gets better. For me its squeezing past someone sitting in a chair that I have to get around, riding on rides, even getting on an elevator that isn't empty.
May i ask how tall you are? Its always nice to know the combo ht/wt.
Congrats again, 134 is awesome!
