Goal change.

After some thought I have decided to make a temporary goal change, from 150 to 180.  Why the change, well I don't want to lose faith in what I can do but 150 just seems so daunting so I am going to make more of a short term goal and then re-evaluate.  I can't even remember being less then 210 so below 200 will seem like a miracle but I can see getting there.  Am I gonna make changes to diet and exercise, only if I make them more focused, I am not going to use this as an excuse to eat more crap.  I just want to go more in stages and having a short versus long term goal may keep me more focused.  Gonna try this for a little bit and then see how it works.  Please don't see this as a step backwards for me but just a visualization of my short term goal.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. My thought is it might help to hit some shot term goals. Right now I have it set at 150 and I have no clue what I'll feel like or look like at 180. My docs overall goal for me is 180 but I was thinking 150. I might change my goal to 180 as a short term goal and adjust as I know how I feel and look. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking like that.

Short term goals are the way to go.  I can't imagine myself at my goal so I'm just happy taking it one day at a time, doing what I need to do to feel good and healthy and my goals are non-scale, like working in the yard for more than an hour without passing out. Granted - that one is a bit tough even if you're thin right now because it's like, 100F heat index... :)

How tall are you? Did your doc set your goal or did you? Just wondering because we were sleeved around the same time and started around the same weight.

I'm 5' 2"

My doc and I discussed the goal together and agreed pretty quickly to aim for 130.

The thinnest I'd been as an adult was at about 135. At the time I had really big boobs, which I had reduced a few years ago. My mom is about 135/140 with big boobs, so I figure 130/135 sounds about right for me.

sounds good. The smallest I've been as an adult is 185. I wonder if that weight played a royal in why my doc thinks 180 would be good for me.

Youre doing great by the way. And thanks for the quick reply.

Nikki, I think that sounds fine!  I'll tell you a little secret.  I don't really have a goal weight, I have a goal way of eating.  I have a goal way of eating for the rest of my life, one day at a time.  I *think* that means I'd weigh around 160, but who knows?  All I have to do today is follow my food plan.

I want to lose weight, of course.  I wouldn't have had surgery otherwise.  But I don't have a weight problem.  I have an eating problem.  Fixing the eating problem will solve the weight problem, and I'll end up where I'm supposed to be, no matter what I put on my ticker.  I'm sure you will, too!
