I have 8 sleeps until surgery (Tuesday, August 28th in Tijuana with Dr. Lopez) and it's time to start packing my bags. Is there anything you can think of that would've been helpful to have at the hospital? I'll be at the hospital for two days and then at the hotel for an additional 2 days. I'm pretty sure there's shopping nearby, but I'm trying to be as well prepared as possible.

Any suggestions?

Shoes that you can slip on!! It's hard to bend over after you have had surgery. Chapstick was pretty nice to have. If you have an Ipod or an Ipad take those. I never did use my laptop. Loose clothing. Mouthwa**** was a day after my surgery before I could have clear liquids, and they don't want you to have gum or mints due to the gas you could create. So you want something for the bad breath in between teeth brushing. Good luck with your surgery!! I am so happy for you!

Here's my list of what I really needed for the hospital:

I was glad to have Chapstik, a hair tie, face wash, deodorant, mouthwash and a book. I also wore my own loose shorts and tee shirts as soon as possible after surgery, which made walking easier.

I concur with all the posts here, but post-op planning, you may want to go ahead and have your broths and protein shakes stocked up at home so you don't have to go out. I even brought a shake and a broth along with me to the hospital as just in case, after I was dismissed. If you haven't tried them, you may want to buy a box of the swansons flavor boost packets....they seem to be way more flavorful than just regular broth. Just add them to ho****er.

Good luck!!!!
