Hair Loss Issue -- How it went for me.
Yes, I had hair loss.
I was sleeved on March 19th. One month after surgery, my hair began to fall out. At it's worst, it just fell out like mad... even standing at the bathroom sink.
Some one here gave the suggestion to use Toppix powder, and that really helped a lot.
Then in July, 4 months after surgery, I went to the hair dresser in Manhattan while on vacation. He told me my hair was growing back. He was right! It has been growing back since July, and the new hair looks really cute. I no longer need Toppix powder.
Oh... at the worst, my hair was thin and you could see my scalp in the bangs area. But the Toppix made it tolerable. Now... it looks fine. My new hair is maybe a half inch long. It seems to be growing really fast. I do not appear to have hair loss now. Yay!
I will add that I have done a terrible job of getting in my protein. I did great the first 3 months, and the poorly the last 2 months. Even though... my hair came back. I plan to start getting my protein in. I started today. I think in the past month I have had protein maybe 2 days. I know that is terrible... but, I promise to get back on it!

I'm pre op, and have thinning hair...I use Joan Rivers "Great Hair Day" and it works really well for me....(check her website or amazon). when I am post op, if it gets much worse, I may have to try the Topix...I've heard the fibers in Topix is very filling.
Great Hair Day - what it is....imagine eye shadow powder, you choose you hair color (I needed to go dark blonde, but am more medium brown hair), then part your hair where you're thin, brush or 'sponge' it on (I separately bought what looks like large eyeshadow applicators). Part your hair again about 1/2 inch over, apply, etc etc......takes me about 5-7 mins...I prefer to do on completely dry hair, then add products. Also, start applying from the back, then forward.
Last 2-3 days for me, shampoos out. It may seem pricey , but one compact of it lasts me several months...they often have BOGO deals...or you can usually find a singe one on eBay.

Hi Brenda777!!! Thank you so much for the glimmer of hope! I've always had relatively thick hair and never in my wildest dreams did I think any amount of hairloss after surgery would be so drastic. Can you tell me where to find the Toppix? I need to do something immediately - even after a trim, wrapping my hair at night and cutting back on washing it everyday (since I understand our hair is weaker when it's wet - could be old wives tale - I have no idea - just desperate - lol) I'm still seeing a considerable about of loss. I'll admit, it's not as bad as it was at month 4 and 5, but still too much for comfort.
Thanks so much,
Margaret
