Sugar Free syrup?!?!?

So I have been religiously using my Torani sugar free syrups so that I can make myself an iced coffee every morning. I also put a capful or so in my protein shakes after my workout. Well I found a Target off brand of the vanilla and it was just as good, so when I ran out of carmel I got the Target brand too. I've been using probably 2-3 tablespoons of it a day since I picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

Today after I poured some in my protein shake I noticed the lid was sticky. "Well" I asked myself "Why on earth would a sugar free syrup leave a sticky residue on the bottle?". So I look at the label. Once again I say to myself "Well why on earth would they forget to put "sugar free" on the label?" UGH! I turn it around and find out that it's 80 freaking calories a tablespoon and 20 carbs. So, hmm...let me add that up... Yes, I've been needlessly adding 240 extra calories and 60 grams of carbs to my diet EVERY SINGLE DAY without realizing it!!

AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe this. I'm a freak about checking every single label, weighing, measuring, and logging every bite that goes into my mouth. How could I miss this?!?! I guess I just assumed they would all be sugar free since it was sitting there amongst the sugar frees. That's just nuts. Let this be a lesson, DOUBLE CHECK YOUR LABELS!

But, I did randomly lose 5 pounds this week. So that's good :)

Revised from band to sleeve on June 6th, 2012. Lost 48 pounds on my own in the 4 months prior to revision.

Excellent advice.  By the way, if you are looking for a cheap alternative and are close to an Ollie's or Dollar Tree they have a Cafe al Fresco brand of sugar free syrups.  They come in three flavors: hazelnut, vanilla, and caramel.  They are 12 oz bottles and cost $1 a bottle (at Ollies).

I learned this lesson 2 weeks ago. I was getting my protein shake concoction from Starbucks breve. I had always been told half and half has less carbs but never realized it was soooo many more calories and only 1.5g carbs less than skim for 8oz.

I use Archer Farms sugar free coffee syrup from Target. There aren't any carbs or calories in it.

Also, you can buy syrup directly from Starbucks. It's $7.95 for the giant bottle. They may not want to give you a pump though lol.

Oh my, I did the exact same thing when I first got sleeved.  I probably used 2/3 of a bottle of syrup before I realized it was the real sugar version.  It never seemed to slow my weight loss at all.  But once I finally realized it, I stopped using it. Glad you figured it out.
