a couple of questions regarding Liquid stage of post op weeks 1 & 2
Since my surgery date is quickly approaching i am trying to get myself ready and want to have as many options as i can.
I am not a big water drinker to begin with so i need lots of help in this catagory
So here are my questions
1. How do you calculate how much water is in a SF ice pop or jello?
2. I made 3 huge pots of broth back in late june (original surgery date was july 2). They have been frozen since june 26. What do you think is the shelf life for these broths? They have been frozen for 4 months now.I made chicken, beef and veggie.
3. How do you calculate how much protien is in the above mentioned broths.
4 Other then SF Jello, Ice pops, and water what other things did you drink to make that 64 oz liquid goal?
5 anyone try the Isopure RTD Zero Calorie carb drink? What did you think of them? Did you count them as part of your water intake?
6 did anyone drink the protien shots that i see lots of companies sell? Here is an example http://www.mybariatricpantry.com/ANSI_Protein_Ice_Power_Sho****ermelon_p/ansi-pwrsh****rmln.htm
Sorry for all the questions. My NUT is not very helpful with these types of questions.

Hi! I am just winding down the liquids and am into the purees. I think your frozen broth is fine still. Don't know about how to calculate the protein content though. Other things that go into the liquid calculation include any light juices (i like ocean spray cranberry), chrystal light...protein drinks.
I have tried the Isopure. Can't say I like it much. It tastes really chalky to me and sticks to my mouth and throat. But it is a great way to get your liquid in as well as the protein. The best shakes so far I have found are premier chocolate RTD and the Atkins advantage RTD also. The unjury chicken broth is good too. Frankly I can't wait to get the protein in through food...shakes are really not all that great.
Re the protein shots, I hear that it is not the right kind of protein, it seems to be callogen and not whey isolate so we don't seem to absorb the callogen. I also bought some in my pre op prep frenzy..drank them coz I don't like to waste and they must be not terrible for you, even if we don't absorb all the protein.
Good luck to you!!

1. I seriously took 1 of each and melted them in the microwave to see how many oz were in them.
