DS stands for Duodenal Switch. It's a WLs with the same stomach as the VSG, plus an intestinal bypass similar to, but more effective than, that of the RNY. Unlike the RNY, the DS provides permanent malabsorption of calories. This is probably why it has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats of any WLS.
