When do I step on the scale?

I was sleeved on Monday and am being discharged as I type this.  I was just curious when people starting weighing themselves again.  I know there is some swelling that still needs to go down and even some water weight to lose.  I don't want to get my hopes up so I though about waiting a week.  Thoughts?

My surgery isn't until Jan 21 but that is good question , when did everyone start weighing themselves after their surgery.

How are you feeling ?

I'm feeling great now.  The first few days were rough but that's to be expected.  I just did like everyone on here said: Sip, walk, rest & repeat.  That truly is the winning formula.

Congrats on your discharge from hospital. I did wait one week to weigh myself. You do get lots of IV fluids and fluid washed into your abdominal cavity during surgery. I wanted to see as big a loss as possible that first week for motivation. Good luck.

So you are going to gain A LOT from fluids in the hospital. DO NOT weigh yourself once you are discharged! You will be dissapointed. Unless you do it for purely scientific purposes to see how much fluid weight you gained.

Anyway I started weighing aftee 5-7 days out? Can't remember exactly but I did lose 14 lbs when I did finally weigh.

I started the day I left the hospital, it was disappointing the first week and I kept thinking I was loosing too slow. Just remember to not compare yourself to anyone else! Good luck to you and Merry Christmas!

I stepped on the scale 48 hrs after surgery. The first 10 days my loss was the fastest! It was great to help me through the early recovery period. I had no gain from IV fluids or swelling. I wish every week were like week 1 post op!

I did not buy a scale until 6 weeks - only weighed at follow up appt. best decision I ever made. Those first 6 weeks, your energy is better devoted to recovering, sipping, walking, eating. You don't need the added stress of the scale. I wasnt weighin, so I never had a 3 week stall - or I never knew about it. I've seen so many ppl distraught over that first early stall that I would advise you to delay the scale obsession as long as possible.

Good thinking! When the time finally comes... I'm considering taking my scale to my office at work on my last day. That way, I will be off for a goo 2-3 weeks and I won't be able to physically weigh myself until a little bit of time passes lol!
