Just curious how many different guidelines there are out there from doc to doc...

As many as there are docs.  No two are the same!

What Lori said.  And some docs even have different guidelines for different patients, depending on a wide range of variables.

Mine was 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks puree, 2 weeks soft, and then regular.

Protein Goal: 70-80 grams a day

Carb Max: 130 per day

Water Goal: 64oz per day or more

Stick to low fat

Utilize Sugar free crystal light to help drink water

If not meeting protein goal right away then get it through protein shakes/powder, and bars, but eventually food should help you meet those needs. I eat about 1/2-1 whole protein bar during the day which is 10-20 proteins. I am not too fond of powder except when I get it from the "protein berry workout" blend from Jamba Juice. My surgeon recommended that I do a protein beverage with banana, berries, and soy/whey protein powder, soy milk/regular milk. If you get an extra scoop of protein powder I calculated 20 proteins for a small. Every time I make it at home, its very gross. This beverage has no extra sorbet or ice cream or anything...its a protein shake with fruit  and ice :)

High protein:

Milk, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, skinless chicken, turkey, salmon, tilapia, shrimp, cheese, beans

I do whole grains like 1/2 slice of bread with turkey/ham, 2 Tbsp cooked rice with fish, 3 crackers with cheese

I only normally get 50 carbs a day from the whole grains, which provide some fiber too.

My daily calorie intake is about 500-700 cals a day. I try to hit 700 because I know I burn a lot from exercise and want to make sure I have energy to burn. :)

After surgery I had 2 weeks full liquids, 2 weeks soft foods, and then regular foods. But when I got to regular foods, I was not given much guideline other than protein to reach 60-80 grams per day. Oh and I was to get at least 64 oz of water in. But for the most part, I was left to my own accord to find what worked for me. I do wish I had more from the doc on the diet portion. But I think I am doing pretty well since I just hit 80 lbs at 17 weeks out.
