Major breakouts after WLS?

Has anyone out there experienced any major breakouts after surgery?  Just curious because ever since surgery I have basically been a pimple factory and it does not appear as though there is an end to this.  So I am wondering if anyone else experienced this same thing, and if so, how long it lasted for you.  Thanks!  :)

It could be your pores getting rid of all the fat/oil that was in your body before you began the journey toward healthy living?

I wonder if you're having hormonal spikes as part of your weight loss that could be causing the uptick in acne?

Hmm...that is a good thought considering some other things I have going on which aren't quite normal either.  I will have to ask Dr. C about that at the next support meeting.  Thanks!

I've had the same issue and it's driving me crazy.  I may have gotten a pimple or two pre-surgery, but now my checks are covered.  It's really annoying.  My surgery was in early Dec. and I started noticing them within a week or two.  I went and saw my PCP about it and he thinks it should clear up on it's own.  He did however order me an antibiotic.  I've never heard of an antibiotic being used for acne but I didn't question him.  I hope it clears up fast for you.  It's been several months fo me.

I have never heard of antibiotics being used to treat acne either. I am curious to know if it worked for you?

Hormones are stored in your fat cells.  During this period of high fat burning, you're releasing a lot more hormones into your system, not to mention all the toxins that were stored in the fat too.  That's part of why we're so moody for the first month or so.

Things will settle after a couple of months.

I was not aware of any of that. Thank you for the info.

It'll end.  For months after surgery, my skin did everything under the sun - dry, oily, pimples, flaking.  It finally normalized to being more dry than pre-op, but since my skin was extremely oily before surgery, this is more normal.

When I was in college, ITook tetracycline for my acne.  Cleared up a persistent, chronic problem in a few months.  Yes, antibiotics work for acne.
