Everything going along swimmingly toward my date and screeeech...a halt at the stress test. They see something in my EKG so they tell me I have to go off to a cardiologist.

Everything is on hold. First test I have ever failed in my life.

I'm sure it will be fine.  An abnormality on an EKG doesn't mean you won't be a candidate for surgery.  Hang in there and let us know how it goes.  Hugs!

If there's an issue with your stress test, having found it could save your life. If it's really nothing, you'll be back on track in no time.

I know this is frustrating (I had several pre-op testing issues that resulted in extra testing) but just in case there is a problem it's worth the slight delay.

Here's hoping there's not!

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

I hope it is nothing.  I had to have a heart cath done before my surgery but they did not find anything.  Just make sure your cardiologist knows that you want to have wls surgery.  This way if they do have to unblock an artery they can treat you in a way that will get you back on track sooner.  There was something about whether they would use a medicated stent or not.  If they had found a blockage and used a medicated stent he would not release me for one year to have surgery.  There was something else he could use that would have only put me down for 30 days.  It turned out that there was no blockage and I was able to have my surgery when scheduled.  They are just trying to be safe.  There may not be any issues and that is what I will pray for you.  I know this can be stressful but hang in there, you are almost there.

Thanks for the prayers and observations. Hopefully I can get into the cardiologist soon.

Same here! But they didn't find anything during further testing and it only pushed me back by about 10 days or so. In the long run the extra 10 days is a lot less stressful than major health issues going undiagnosed.
