Please help! Urine with bubbles on top = Possible Kidney issues?

Hi  I had my sx on 2/19/13 and am about 20 lbs down.  My surgeon did not have any pre- or post-op diets to stick to.  I am able to get my protein in with Isopure bottled drinks and Chocolate Isopure shakes (made with Skim Plus milk). I also do have a little food here and there (mostly at dinner with my family).  I have noticed that when I pee,  bubbles or foam appear.  I looked this up on the internet and the most common thing seems to be protein in the urine -- which does make sense since that's nearly all I eat/drink.  At night, in bed, my back hurts - in the waist area  (I thought it was the bed, or that I don't poop very much or often (but I figured little in and little out and very little fiber so what should I expect)

Kidneys are not usually supposed to allow protein past their filters.  Can this lead to kidney disease?  I am concerned and have made an appointment with my Primary Care Physician.  Anyone else have this experience or notice this?  I was healthy (other than overweight) prior to my surgery!

Did I step out of the frying pan into the fire!!!??  Now I am scared! Ugh!

Just sounds like you are little dehydrated. Drink more water and quit worrying. Everything will be alright. The foam isn't a big deal and it is more likely dehydration than sudden onset of kidney disease. The lower back pain can easily be your kidney's complaining about the lack of throughput to expel the waste from your blood. Drink, drink, drink water until you float.

Hi Hon,

the best thing to do is: Don't self diagnose and see a doctor!!!!

If you are that concerned then you must see a specialist or your PCP. It will probably turn out to be nothing but better safe than sorry right?

Don't drive yourself crazy....................good luck.

Hugs,

Rita

Thank you for your answers!  Still learning my way around this site and didn't know how to respond!

I did see my doctor and she tested my urine and all is fine.  Next hurdle is why, at nearly 5 weeks out, I am still only at the same 20 lb loss!  Does this ever get a little easier??

I had the same issues & problems.  I was getting my period & it was the worst ever.  Also, you probably are not eating enough food!!  I had surgery on 2-13 & have only lost 25 pounds.  Saw the Dr. last week & he told me to up my food/calorie intake.  Are you walking at all to get exercise?  That would help also.  Stay hydrated & drink more water if you can also.  All things my Dr. suggested.
