Happy Friday everyone. I'm down 54 pounds since surgery. Is this normal? I keep reading that people have lost 70 or more. Am I on the right track? I get in 64 + oz of water per day , exercise, protein 70+ everyday. What gives?

Hi. I am also a week ahead do you. The way I see it is that, while we've had the same procedure and are following similar paths, the one variable that is totally different is that we, each of us, have a Different and Unique Body that will do what it will do. Our job is to stay the course- follow the plan- as Frisco says, "commitment and compliance", and let the tool do it's work. Hang in there. Celebrate the loses. If you are loosing, your sleeve is working. Steadily, day by day, we are going to make it to our goal. We will do it through daily effort and stick to it-ness. I read in research last night that only ONE percent of those who would otherwise qualify for WLS are able to actually have these procedures done. We are the lucky ones who either have the insurance, financial ability or otherwise support to participate in weight loss journey with such a powerful tool as we have. Let's continue to make the most of it.

I think those who have more loss are including their pre-op weight loss.  You and I have the same date and I just saw my surgeon this week.  I was expected to be at the halfway point but I'm a couple of pounds behind that.  My surgeon was ok with my loss, though was hoping I had lost half my excess weight.  If you have a lot more to lose then you can't be expected to be at 50% ewl at the 3 month point.  .

I know what you mean - I was down 55 lbs at 3 months and now only down 80 at almost 6 months - I still have at least 80 to go - the last 2 months have been horribly slow even though I'm still doing 800 cal- 70-80 protein and 40-50 carbs and more exercise. It's hard when I see others who have list so much more but I try to keep in mind that each persons weight loss journey is their own and to keep plugging along.
Good luck - dont give up.

I think it's better then normal!  Wow good job!  At that point I had only lost 39 pounds.  You are doing a great job!  Up the water and how are your carbs?

Hi. I usually get more water in when I do morr excercise. I will try to focus on getting more in no matter what. The carbs I try to stay under 40 but its been kind of hard lately since I have been incorporating more fruits and veggies. Props to those who can stay under 20 , I don't know how ya all do it !!

That's excellent!!! Each persons journey is completely different. The people that seem to be losing more than you may have twice or three X's as much to lose. I lost 41.4 pounds in my first 4 weeks post-op but 30lbs of that was water. The water was all stored in my legs & have made my feet almost impossible to walk on over the last 2 years because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis & Lymphedema. Naturally the water is going to come off first & if you count the 2 diuretics I've been on since surgery the water literally just fell off of me. I had lost 34lbs just 5 days after surgery. That's CRAZY. I'm envious of people like you who are losing the "fat" pounds and who don't have any water weight to lose because I don't feel like the water weight actually counts. I want to lose the fat- darn it.. But... This is MY journey & the weight is going to come off how ever it feels like. Just keep in mind that we're not all one size fits all. The more weight you have to lose generally the quicker it will come off at first but then it's bound to slow down.
When else have you ever been able to lose 54lbs in 3.5 months? That's amazing, be proud, very proud!!! =)

XO,
Hilary
