Winning what seemed like an impossible fight!!!!

I don't know if anyone remembered my situation so here's a little background.  I got the lapband in 2009 and had many complications so in January 2013 it was taken out.  I was denied twice by Aetna and got some great advice on here to contact Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy.  I did and after hiring them my surgeon was unwilling to work with them and stated that it wasn't necessary....he even called me to request that I have them no longer call the office and that his office could handle my appeals.  I was hysterical to say the least and actually quite afraid to use him because of his behavior but I was also scared to have to start over from scratch too so I decided to comply with his requests even though I am VERY appreciative of Kelly with Lindstrom. So then I got a call from the surgeon's office and was told that my surgeon is on "leave" and it doesn't look like he will be coming back.  Honestly, it was a huge relief because I was skeptical of his behavior in regards to bringing in Lindstrom since they are there to help both of us. So another surgeon in the office will be doing my vsg.   Anyway!!!   Well, my level 2 appeal was submitted on 5/6/13 and I just got the call today that my previous denial was overturned and I was APPROVED!!!!!!  My surgery is scheduled for 6/20/13.  I am so happy I just can't explain it.  I almost gave up and my husband even wanted me to abandon my fight with the insurance and just go to Mexico.  I am so glad that my hard-headedness hasn't left me (at least not in this situation...in others I wi**** would take a flying leap.  lol).  My insurance SHOULD pay for this surgery.  I just can't wait to finally be on the losers side of all of this and get my health back in order along with my self-esteem.  MOST OF ALL I can't wait to go dancing with my husband again.  We used to go every weekend and I miss that the most.  Time to take a deep breath and LIVE!!!!  :)

Congrats.  It sounds like your perseverance and patience has paid off.  The good news is if you keep practicing patience you will be highly successful with the VSG.

You know what amazes me the most ... it's the number of people that have a failed lap band.  I  am so glad that you have chosen to revise to the VSG.  There are an amazing number of people that have been extremely successful with this revision.  Many of them post frequently on here.

Thank you and I am definitely determined to be successful.  :)

I think they should stop doing lap bands altogether.  Seems like the failure vs. success rates are really bad.  I was so glad to get mine out.  Excited for the VSG.

There are actually surgeons that are now refusing to do them.  I think that this is going to become more and more common that the crap band gets banned (play on words ... lol) by most surgeons.
