I know laparoscopic has minimal puncture holes, etc but did y'all notice a difference with any creams, ie Mederma, etc?

I never used any creams on my vsg scars and they completely faded and were invisible by a year out. I had major PS though, and nothing seems to be helping my scars fade in certain areas - i think a lot of it just depends on each person and their healing process...i personally think those products have minimal effect honestly.

I haven't done any creams or anything and I can't find a single scar or tell where any of my incisions were. Its interesting too because I can see my scar from my laparoscopic surgery I had 25 years ago in my belly button but nothing from the sleeve surgery.

I've used bio oil sporadically, but at 9 months out, I really have to search for mine to find them.

I never did anything. I can still feel my largest one and find it if I go looking for it, but the rest are gone.

My big one is there where they did the hernia repair work but I look at it as a badge of honor and was so happy to wear a two piece and not have all that fat that I just didn't give a damn about the scars  LOL.

I used emu oil, and massaged. The massaging is reported to be more important than the oil or cream used. Mine almost disappeared, but I was dumb and tanned too early, and the spots darkened. Sun avoidance and sun block very important in first year post op of scars.

Now, I just had plastics, so plan to do all I can to help the scars. Silicone sheeting has a lot of research behind it, and is promising data for flattening thick, ropey scars. My theory is do all I can to minimize, then I know I got the best result genetics gave me. Yes, we can not control final outcome, but we can improve our odds.
