I didn't on the preop diet, and have had to deal with head hunger post op.

My surgery was May 23rd..I'm STARVING!! I did 2 weeks of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids and now 2 weeks of puréed. This is after surgery. I can't start soft food until July 3. I'm struggling daily with these hunger pains. :-(

I did not have a pre-op diet...I am one of those who had--and continue to have--true hunger on occasion...I do have some head hunger, but there is real physical hunger at times for me...the hunger kicked in for me about a week after surgery when I was still on liquids

I'm on the pre-op diet now, and there have been a couple of days when I've been hungry, no lie.  I make sure I have a full glass of water at all times though and that seems to keep hunger at bay.  I'm getting between 80-100 gm protein daily and keeping carbs to under 60 gm (doc's plan is less than 120).

It was at least 6-8 months post-op before I felt hungry. But I was dexilant for acid reflux so I never got that feeling that some people have when acid reflux or heartburn is making them feel hungry. Even two years out, the hunger is less intense than pre-op.

Pre-op diet: I stayed home as much as possible and exerted as little energy as possible. I see no logical reason for trying to exercise during that time although some people do for some strange reason. I cleaned less. I  drank something (my pre-op was all liquid) every 2-3 hours. The key to not getting too hungry is to drink what you can before you do get hungry. It was my top priority. I used the approved sugar free popsicle as a treat at the end of the day. I did have to go to work, but I didn't work full-time.  I had to conduct training so I saved energy until that time. After the first 3 days of hell, I was much better. My pre-op diet was two weeks. Around day 8 I was in the zone.  I didn't cheat.
