Back... again.

I have been back and forth on this forum because I have been in and out of working my food plan. I lost 60lbs in the first 9 months after surgery. Somewhere along the way, I forgot that I can't eat like other people. I stopped eating my protein and drinking my water. I started eating every couple of hours and drinking soda constantly (diet). I gained back 25lbs.    I was horrified. How had I let this happen?   But I have never given up. I am back on track, eating 80-100 grams of protein each day and drinking 75+ oz of water. I'm keeping my carbs under 40g.   My next step is exercise. I have a beautiful, practically new, treadmill at home, perfect for walking inside in Phoenix's hot summer.   What I have learned is that I will always have to be vigilant about my food. Once I start thinking I'm like normal people, I'm dead. I've lost all my weight, made it to goal, and then gained 150lbs back before. I'm not going to let that happen this time.

Hi,

I'm so glad you posted, and that you are getting back on track. I think there is an important lesson in your post for all of us.  We do have to be diligent, and we are not ever going to be able to eat link "normal" people.

It sounds like you are doing it right.  I wish you the best in your weight loss journey.

Best wishes,

Carol

Welcome back.

Here is our reality: we will always have to be vigilant. Accepting that instead of resisting it makes things much easier, but getting to that acceptance can be a difficult path.

Hang in there.

you can do it, for those of us who has had WLS its not that hard to get back on track. Go back to basics with water, protein and lower calorie intake. Good luck!
