You will probably have an EKG to see if your heart is in good shape for surgery.  You will probably have bloodwork done to establish baseline levels for glucose, proteins, etc.  I would imagine the chest x-ray is to check your lungs to see if they are in good shape and clear.

I had to have an upper GI so my doc could see if I had a hiatal hernia (I didn't), your doc may check for this too.

Not sure what all else you may have done but those things seem to be pretty standard.  The only part of my pre-op testing I had done at the hospital was my upper GI.  I didn't have to have a chest x-ray, and I had my PCP do my EKG and requisition bloodwork since it was time for my 6 month checkup with her.  Two birds, one stone, you know how that goes.  And it was cheaper!
