BCBS of Alabama question

I have BCBS of Alabama.  I called Monday to verify that they received the paperwork from my Dr. and Blue Cross acknowledged that they received it on the 19th.  I was told that is was with Medical review and could take up to 30 days.  I know most people get a response within a week or two.  My question is how many days should I wait to call back and how often should I call?  I am ready to get this done and move on with my new life 

Personally, I'd ask the insurance coordinator at your surgeon's office how long the approval ususally takes.  Since they do this all the time, they have a good idea of how long each insurer takes.

I have BCBS of Alabama and it only took a couple weeks for them to approve my surgery!  Hopefully it will be the same for you! :D  Good luck!

Thanks everyone.  I had already asked at the Dr. office and they said 1 to 2 weeks.  They also encouraged me to call, said it might speed it up.  I guess I am nervous about calling to soon and too often.  Don't want to **** them off and make them hold off on approving.
