Your Meal Plan
I'm 8 weeks out tomorrow:
500-600 calories per day
60-80 grams protein
under 40 carbs
80-100 oz water
**I eat something about every 3 hours. I wouldn't call what I eat meals per se.....really, should a cheese stick count as a meal?
:)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE myfitnesspal so if you are so inclined, friend me....I'm PO3640 on there. It's amazing support!!
Assuming you trust your doctor, the important thing to know and follow is your doctor's plan. Most will follow these basic guidelines
75-90 gms protein per day (won't be able to do this immediately postop), in the beginning I was eating 5 small meals per day, minimum 64 oz water (takes a while to work up to this volume), vitamins do vary based on surgeon's recommendations. I was not given any guideline for carbs, but based on best practice of the vets here I kept to 30 gms of carbs per day or less during weight loss.
I take 2 multivitamins with iron per day, Vit D, B12, B complex, additional B1, and calcium 500 mg twice per day. I also take a PPI because I do still have significant reflux.
I see a lot of people on here comment about how they keep their carbs below 30. How do you do that? Hubby is on mushy stage right now and he's had a protein shake w/almond milk, 1/4 cup of egg beaters and 1oz of pureed chicken w/gravy and already has 29 carbs for the day. Just curious. I kind of wish our surgeon gave us sample menus instead of guidelines lol
Here is a copy and paste from myfitnesspal from when I was on mushies. It is kinda weird to try and read it, but it should help. Oh, and I found out later I wasn't supposed to eat strawberries yet (oops!) My NUT told our group once that they don't give us a day by day, meal by meal plan because they want us to be able to deal with food choices, etc on our own. My program does not want us to simply follow meal plans the rest of our lives....they want us to make the healthy choices.

Can I ask how he got 29 carbs from that? Because just using some standard ingredients I got:
egg beaters - 1 carb for 1/4 cup
unjury vanilla protein powder - 4 carbs
1 cup unsweetened almond milk - 1 carb
chicken - 0 carbs
gravy - 1 carb
7 carbs total. Obviously there's going to be some variance depending on what kind of protein powder, etc., you use, but I just can't work out how these items would come up to 29 carbs!
