Ok so I read the posts on not loosing weight after 6 months. Is this true????  I'm worried if it is, because I will be 6 months out Aug. 11  I've lost 120 lbs. and I still have 56 lbs. more to lose until I get to my goal.

Everyone is different and there is always that risk but if you are dedicated and follow the plan and you do not have some undiagnosed weird medical condition you will lose longer.  I am 7.5 months out and have lost 103 lbs.  Yes weight loss did slow down for me but I am still losing.  If you get stuck for a while, there are people on here that will help you look at your journaling to see if they have suggestions to get the scale moving again.

The sleeve is a tool. That's a scientific fact. If the tool is used correctly, it will work. If it isn't, it won't. Simple as that. That other poster didn't want any lectures on eating, which sounded to me that they are in a bit of denial. Just because you have the sleeve it doesn't mean that you will be 100% successful. Lets use an a metaphor here. The sleeve is like a lawn mower. If you use it properly, your grass will be cut and lovely. If you leave it in the garage or drive around without putting down the blade, how can you expect for it to work? You can have a tool and not use it. As long as you follow plan (protein first, then everything else), there is no reason that the tool won't work for you.

The sleeve is only one tool in an arsenal of tools that we use to lose weight.  Ask yourself these questions:

1.  Are you following your protocols(journaling, exercising, weighing)?

2.  Are you taking part in aftercare ( support groups, therapy, etc)?

3.  Are you holding yourself accountable for the decisions you make?

weight loss often slows at 6 months.  There are a host of reasons, both behavioral and physiological.  That does not mean that you cannot lose after 6 months.  That's bull ****  It can be harder to lose.  For me the main reason was, in my case, that at 6 months out I was half the person I was at starting.  It takes a lot more work at 179 lbs to burn calories than at 343.

Dont worry about not losing, worry about staying on your program.  You will get there eventually.

There's no magic switch at 6 months.  I had a similar amount of weight as you to lose and hit my doctor's goal at 18 months...then lost another 20 pounds.  My weight stabilized at around 2 years.  It slows down, but then, you have a lot less weight to lose at the end!

Thank you!  I was worried, I do eat on plan 98% of the time, I log my foods, journal, and exercise.

I'm going to work this tool 100% I have had a few slip-ups, but I get right back on track. I'm so thankful for the VSG !!!

I'm so thankful for the help and advise that Keith has given me!!!!

Hi Shanda!

As others have said, yep, weight loss will slow down. But don't sweat it. This is natural. You have to keep your head in the game and focus less on numbers. If you do not excercise...start. You will want to take measurements as well because you will lose inches of unwanted fat even though the scale will not reflect this.

We have been torturing ourselves for years by measuring with the scale. This journey we opted to take is not only about weight loss, but of learning how to live. We have to be healthy to do this so even if the scale is unkind, if you have to look past that and stay on your plan.It will keep coming off...but the minute you stop fighting for it...you will have an uphill battle.

Head up and keep moving forward my friend!!

Peace

~Deb
