I had my surgery on July 22nd. This is the first time I have been able to log in because my computer has been messed up and I forgot my login information to be able to login from another computer. Anyway, I just want to give you the low down....

The surgery went awesome. I was up and walking the same day, although I didn't really want to. I didn't want to do my breathing exercises either....blah....but I did the walking and I guess I did just enough breathing exercises to not get pneumonia. The only issue I had was after I went home, I ended up in the ER because they took me off my BP meds and put me on something else....which didn't work. But now my BP is under control :)   Oh am I am already taking my BP meds and my prescription Prilosic in pill form, not liquids.

I never had gas pains...I had very little incision pain. My left side was and is still a little sore...but no big deal. No nausea or heartburn or anything.

Best thing is no hunger! I stayed on clear liquids for about 6 days....was probably barely getting in enough water and since then I have been on clear liquids but I have added protein shakes (one a day) and cream soups. I have also been drinking one little low sodium V8 juice too....I can only eat about 3/4 of the soup a day...and then the V8. I have really been drinking mostly water and a couple sugar free popsicles a day too. I have had a fudgesicle a couple times too, Oh and the weird thing....I have sipped a little pickle juice a few times too...I dont know if it was just to get some flavor or what.

Oh and I just have to say this....cream of chicken soup is the most tasty, gourmet meal I have ever had....it is soooo good.

Anyway, 10 day out and I'm just about perfect. I got my staples out on Monday....and the journey has begun!!!

No regrets! Oh and i am down 20.2 pounds!

That sounds great. I am just waiting for surgery. Just a question as i am new to this, was there a reason you had to have open instead of lapriscopic. I am scared to death they will have to do open on me? Sounds like you're on your way good luck:)

I didn't have open....I had laparoscopic. I had 6 incisions....3 tiny ones, less than an inch long.....3 larger ones, about 1.5 inches long.

GLad to hear everything went well.  Like the other poster, I'm a little baffled by the "six incisions and staples" on a Lap surgery.  I geuss all surgeons are different??? Best wishes for  success with your new Sleeve.

From what I have read, unless the doc is doing the "one incision through the belly button" procedure, the 6 incision procedure is pretty common (see below). My camera incision was right at the ring of my belly button....I had one on one side, three on the other and one little one high, like where my bra strap goes.

That is a wonderful representation of the incisions I have.  The one that has given me the most problem is the one between my breasts.  My bras seem to rub that spot but other than that, everything is fine.

One pound at a time.

THanks for the pic to explain your procedure.  I have 4 incisions....I have the top three you have, but not the bottom three. My fourth incision is couple inches above my belly button and it is the biggest.  I didn't have any staples just woke up with steri strips that I had to wait till the fell off naturally.  Thanks for your response.

That's great that you're doing so well. I have surgery 8/12 and seeing your post helps with some of the nervousness about the surgery and how I'll feel afterwards. But I also know that it will only last a short while however bad the pain and discomfort may or may not be. I am ready to take this step to begin my journey to a healthy life!!

I was petrified....but when I woke up I was shocked. I thought I would be dying. Once I got home I was off the pain meds the next day....just walk ALOT even when you don't want to.
