Full Liquids??

So I am on full liquids...my diet is basically consisting of a protein shake for breakfast and cream of chicken soup for a late lunch/early dinner. Sometimes I can get a whole can (mixed with a can of milk then strained) in a day (not at one time), sometimes not...and I might have a few popsicles, a low sodium V8 and 2 or 3 bottles of water.

Am I supposed to be doing this better? I feel like my diet sucks...the soup is amazing, I do know that.

Hi,

It sounds like a pretty normal "full liquid diet."  The important things are to get enough fluids (64 oz per day is recommended) and enough protein ( at least 60 grams per day)  Are you adding protein powder to your chicken soup to help get your protein in?  I also made sugar-free jello with protein powder and sugar-free, fat-free pudding with protein powder, and had a serving of each a day to make my protein quota.  You could also add another protein shake or serving of soup with protein powder if you need more protein.

Keep up the good work.

Carol

No I am not putting protein powder in my soups. I have Unjury chicken flavor powder but that seems like it would be too chickeny. I guess I am getting the 17g from the protein shake and a little from the soup....making me get 20g a day. But I think I was told that protein wasn't the most important thing to focus on right now....

I HATE CREAM SOUPS  blended and strained , and getting tired of pudding and juice call my surgeon and ask if it could have baby food and he said ok if it goes through a strainer and the 3 month chicken and gravy(its organic) is smooth with no lumps and taste great  at least till I can eat real food next week , we don't have a purried stage we go from full liquids to full food but are tols to start slow with soft stuff like eggs , real eggs can you imagine how great that will taste yumm!!!!!

The cream of chicken and cream of mushroom are like heaven I love them. I'm not allowed to have pudding and the only juice I've had is V8. The thought of baby food is just yuck to me, unless it was dessert, but I don't think I'm ready for that stuff. My diet is a little different. I have another week of full liquids, then pureed for two weeks, then soft diet for a week to 3 months.
