I did what?
Just like many other sleevers, my hair suffered the dreaded "shedding" which for me was more like half of my hair falling out. I was sure to take my multis, keep my protein up, take my biotin and all that fun stuff but no matter what I did, it continued to come out in hand fulls. This was especially hard for me to deal with because as a morbidly obese child, teenager and young adult, my hair was "the only thing I had going for me." It was thick and beautiful. I was devastated when I lost one of the best things I had going for me. Saturday, I decided that the old me as essentially died. I have no reason to hide behind my hair anymore. I am a different, more confident individual. I work in a professional setting, I've changed my life - time to change my hair too. I cut 16 inches, which I donated to Locks of Love - a company that provides wigs for cancer patients going through chemotherapy. Now, some of you may not realize what a big deal this is for me, but I actually cried when my stylist put it into a ponytail and cut it off.
My hair has thickened up a bit since my shedding began and now that its a shorter cut, it feels and looks even more so.
I encourage anyone who is considering going out of their comfort zone, in whatever the sense, to do it.
I'll include some pictures. (as always)

Hair Now!!!

You look beautiful.....thank you for sharing. I too have always had good, big hair going for me. Losing hair did and still does terrify me. But what you had said about the old you "essentially died", was an AH-HA moment for me. Thank you!!! That is a perfect way to look at it. Thank you for being an inspiration ![]()
Your hair is still beautiful, and look at that thin face! You are doing so well. Congratulations on a job well done! You inspire me.
