Headed back to the surgeon

After my f/u last week my surgeon wanted to see me again due to what he felt were uncommon side effects from surgery. This week hasn't been any better. The diarrhea is still horrible 7-8/day. I started dry heaving on Monday morning and threw up for the first time since surgery this morning. I feel horrible! Obviously no one is a fan of throwing up, but I have to say throwing up after having abdominal surgery is a whole new kind of hell. I really hope he can figure out how to provide me some relief. I'm still only able to get about 30-40oz of water day. I know it's not great, but it's better than my old norm which was 20oz/day.

Remember fluids in fluids out! 30 to 40oz ... 2 weeks out is excellent... I was still only sipping and that was my protein drinks.. Wasn't enough time in the day for water... It does get better.

Well I am back from the Dr and there was no definitive answer to my issues right now. He wants to run a few more tests and see if there is an intestinal infection of some sort. He will see me back again next week. If these tests come back normal and I'm still not better than he is going to order an upper G.I. He doesn't feel that I need it at this time and he knows that I am miserable and the upper GI would prolly make things worse. He added 2 new rx's to hopefully help the nausea/vomiting and diarrhea.

An upper GI would be torture for you for sure. I barely managed to survive it at 3 months post op....i never want to drink that barium crap again (let alone chug it!)
