When does life become normal?
Walking, day 1. You should be walking day of or day after surgery and never stop. The more walking the better.
I held off (on surgeon's advice) from anything but walking for 6 weeks or so. Then I started biking - low impact stuff. I'd ask your surgeon on clearance to do resistance training or any lifting of any kind. I think that varies by surgeon, and I wouldn't take anyone else's advice on that :) You might void your warrantee!

If I had a warrantee I think I broke is a while ago. As for the new one well I mean to keep this one in tact. I have been walking since day one. I had to travel for the surgery so the return trip really took a lot out of me. I was so proud when I pushed my limits in the past so now it is so frustrating when I can't even reach for the remote or I get so tired. I know it has only been 5 days but I am an impatient person guess that is one of the faults that got me here in the first place. I am on a 40 day post-op diet plan, so maybe it will teach me some.
Tiredness is pretty normal for a while. I was able to go back to work fast (desk job) but was tired for a few weeks. Take it easy, you have a life time to test your limits. Within a few weeks to 2 months you'll be ready for a lot more. I had surgery June 2012. Started biking about 6 weeks later. Kept it up over the winter, and now I'm regularly doing 100 mile events... (126 next saturday, and going to England for business week after and staying the weekend to do a 90 mile ride...) So in about 8 months I went from "tired all the time" just like you, to some pretty decent physical feats. The best advice I can give is make sure you're fully healed, then gradually but constantly ramp up the physical activity. If you push a bit each week, you'll be amazed at the progress over 1 year.

Life. as you knew it, will never be "normal" again. You have a new life now - take it slow and easy for the first 4-6 wks then gradually start the work out process. Walking is priority as that's the key to life - the more you move, the better you will feel. Light weights are still best even at 6wks but you can gradually move that up after your doctor clears you.
Just take it at your own pace - your body will tell you when it's had enough. Good luck and keep us posted with all the new "you" pics as you see the changes.

walk within hours of surgery 6 weeks till i could lift more than 10 lb , 6 weeks till I could go in the pool or take a bath (showers where ok from day 2 )
your new normal will take a while , diarrhea and constipation, are normal at first when you are not eating any fiber
pain is mostly gone by week 2 , if you are very over weight you have to learn your new balances as you body redistributes your weight many people fall
learn to love your new normal
