Can you drink 2% milk on post-op diet? I'm kind of tired of water and crystal light.  What can I drink?

I was on clear liquids for a week.  After that I could have skim milk.  I now drink unsweetened almond milk.

What about tea and powerade zero?  I was so sick of flavored water drinks!!! Literally today was the first day since getting of clear liquid that I had a powerade zero.

Best wishes.  You are in the toughest part right now!  Hang in there!

It depends on your surgeon plan. Mine allows skim or 1% milk.  My surgeon only has us do one clear liquid meal on day one post op, full liquids for our second meal that day, then pureed for the final meal of the day, then we stick to pureed foods for about one month or longer, depending on how comfortable we after trying other things.

WOW! post op diets are radically different!  I thought I was going to lose my mind during those first two weeks!

If you're cleared for full liquids, you can drink milk - nonfat, 1%, 2%, whole.  Just depends on how many calories you want to spend on a liquid.

Ditto to all previous responses regarding full liquids, etc. I just wanted to add that you may want to take it easy on full milk. MANY people become lactose intolerant for a few months post op. The sleeve just can't handle it for some reason. If you introduce milk and suddenly have wicked diarrhea, be aware that this can happen.

**Also, if this DOES happen, remember that most protein shakes/mixes are NOT lactose free. You may end up needing to switch for a while.

That being said, I hope that this does NOT happen to you!!! Just something to watch out for :) Best of luck, hon. Glad you're finally on the Losers' Bench!
