Does anyone else have trouble eating Salmon?  Seams like an odd thing to be giving me so much trouble.

Hi,

Congratulations on your surgery.  Everyone is different but salmon and red beans and rice was my favorite. I choked every time I tried to eat salmon for 6 months.  I stopped trying and it was well after a year before I could eat it again.  Who knows Try another good source of protein you can handle better.

I should know, I can't stand fish and I finally find a way to make salmon really well and I can't eat it.....

What helps is to under cook it a little........

Pull it from the heat while still a tad raw in the middle.

It will finish cooking while off the heat and resting.....

This assures that you retain maximum moisture and tenderness.

I like to get a good sear on it first...... and keep it moist in the middle.

I eat it twice a week and haven't had any issues. I undercook it a tad too and put some dill on it.  Yum!

Salmon can be kinda oily and fatty. Personally, I stick to firm white fleshed fish like cod.

Salmon is about 60% of all the food I eat by volume. What kind of salmon are you eating?

If you are in the early phase and eating from a can or a pouch, well... I pity you and look forward to you getting out of that phase.

If in a later phase, and you're using frozen salmon, well it's okay but not top grade and the taste will be a step down.

I find the best salmon are the fresh cuts out of the meat section. Preferably salmon that's not been frozen.

Salmon, along with other seafoods, is about the easiest way to get your protein with the least amount of fat.

The Salmon was fresh, pan seared with extra light olive oil and a small touch of butter and fresh orange juice for taste.  It was perfectly cooked as well.  I could never do can fish.
