Scary start but looking up
After months and months of reading, preparing, talking with others- I did it! My surgery was picture perfect- seriously, I have the pictures to prove it! Who can prepare for complications? I developed a hematoma by my liver. 4 units of blood, 2 units of FFP, and 2 nights in the ICU later, I am on the mend. And gratefully so. I've only had one other surgery (elective as well) and a hematoma developed then so I must have some crazy blood thing but didn't know. I told my husband we will need to enjoy the sharpei look if that's what comes. I think I will forego future elective procedures for quite some time.
I asked everyone "are you glad you did it? Would you do it again?" How many times is that question posed here? A LOT!!! Obviously I've been on a roller coaster answering that for myself the past few days. What I CAN say is that I did my homework, I weighed my options, prayed about it a lot, and I made what seemed to be the best decision for me at the time. Period (for now). I really think that's all any of us can do cause when it comes down to it--it is only YOUR decision.
I'm hoping to go home tomorrow. I miss my man and kids like crazy. Looking forward to positive results. And looking up with thankfulness that I have a second chance.
Oh wow, you are a trooper! Way to hang in there. I hope everything works out okay for you. Once you get home, I know you'll feel a lot better!
You go, girl! Your courage and determination is going to help see you through this rough start and onward into clearer skys soon. May you heal well from this time forward. Bonnie
