Stomach Spasms/trouble breathing

So yesterday I came down with the stomach flu after my kids had it.  I didn't vomit or even really have nausea but my stomach was bothering me.  Then all of a sudden my stomach would do what I can best call a spasm and it would make it very difficult to breathe.  I could only take very shallow breaths. I would turn very clammy and cold. It happened three times. I was home with just my two kiddos and finally was so scared I wouldn't be able to breathe I had my daughter call 911. I could barely get the words out.

I went to the ER they ran some blood tests and eventually sent me home. It never happened again after that. It was the scariest thing I have ever dealt with medically for myself. Has anyone had this?  I am a year and a half or so out.

They called him from the ER.  They felt that it was flu related but definitely could be also because of my sleeve as far as how it was responding. They felt I should watch things and call them today if need be.

I did probably have high carbs the day before but I hadn't had anything to eat yesterday.

Not sure how the connection would be made but what you describe sounds a bit like difficulty with the diaphragm.  When I was a kid sometime I'd get hit just right in the chest and it would trigger a similar breathing difficulty.   I wonder if the spasm you experienced triggered a similar situation.

Yeah I'm not sure how it's connected but the ER doc said it's not uncommon to have diaphragm react to something the stomach is doing.   It felt very similar to getting punched - but much longer lasting and scarier and more significant.
