Good Morning Everyone,

I am 15 Months post op, and have lost 255lbs. I was wondering what everyone's thought on drinking Diet drinks was. I was told by my Doctor that it was fine and didn't hurt anything, but I have not drank one for about 17 months now. I have had strong urges to have one and was wondering how many of you drink them and what has been the results of it.

Diet drinks as in Atkins or slim fast? I can't drink those. I am 10 months post op and I get sick. I get the powdered EAS protein powder, mix it with milk or almond milk. Those are no problem.

Are you talking about diet pop? I drink diet pop now with no problem at all. I don't guzzle it, of course, and I generally stir it some to get rid of some of the fizz, but that's about it. I don't drink it in huge quantities or every day, but some days it's a nice change.

If you're going to try some, stir well first, and take small sips. Some people (like my hubby, daughter and me) have no trouble. Others (like my sis) have it come out their noses or have pain from the carbonation.

I drink a small one on occassion when nothing else is available.  I drink it slowly with no problems.

Well, your stomach won't explode if you have one.  enlightened

Some people don't tolerate the fizziness, so take small sips and see how you do.  If it's okay with your tummy, then it's okay.  You may find you're extra burpy than pre-op.  Of course, they have no nutritional value and are full of pretty useless chemicals, but I have one every once and awhile when the urge strikes.

Thanks, I tried one, and really wasn't what I had  built it up to be. I handled it fine, but just wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be.
