Big clothing NSV today

I don't know if other fat people do this, but I had several bags of clothes (labeled in descending sizes: 2X, 1X, XL...) that I just couldn't part with and kept for many years. I lost 90 lbs over two years on WW between 2004-2006, then started gaining it all back, plus more. So I kept my very favorite clothes in hopes they'd fit again some day. These bags of clothes went through probably 6 moves, including across the country and back. I guess that is some serious hope.

I wore the same clothes I wore before surgery at 50, 60, even 70 lbs lost. Granted, my size 26s were really tight before surgery. But it was SO maddening. Then at some point I realized I was swimming in my clothes and started buying smaller clothes at the thrift stores. Around the end of November I skipped right from 20s to 16s. Now my 16s are getting big. Over the past couple months I've gone through the 2X and 1X bags, but that elusive XL bag (from circa 2006) has sat untouched. Today I went on a "cleaning out the closet" binge and I dared to get out those last bags of clothes.

Almost everything from my XL bag fits. It's really hard for me to wrap my head around that. This bag of clothes has been such a faraway goal for many years. Now I can wear clothes out of it, but in my head I am not caught up to that.

I tried on things in my closet that I bought at the thrift store and wore once and they were too big. I tried on summery clothes that fit now, but won't fit in spring/summer. I tried on dresses and skirts that I fit in but can't wear because I had surgery on my feet and legs. My donation hamper is overflowing. Wow.

I am sort of overwhelmed by this, but definitely thrilled. I am almost into misses land. Wow. I'm more and more grateful every single day for my VSG.

That's wonderful! You'll have so many clothing choices as your size goes down.

I have this beautiful T-shirt that a friend of mine designed. It's gorgeous, but two sizes too small right now. I'm hoping that I will be able to fit into it eventually. It's a size large, so that may be a while yet.

And a size 1XL leather trench coat that someone gave me. Yes, I said leather trench coat. I mean, how could I pass up something THAT HORRIBLE for free??? It's just a bit too small now, but there's a chance I may be able to wear it before the weather gets too warm.

Oh man, I can't wait to go to the thrift store and go through those "normal" size clothing racks. So. Many. Choices.

Make sure you keep trying that t-shirt on as you're losing. I remember being so frustrated at first, but now I am going through clothes like crazy and I missed the boat on wearing some really cute stuff I had saved.

I think you should post a pic when you get to wear that trench coat :)

Girl, I have an entire chest of drawers organized by size... The jeans that I'm now wearing were bought when I was 19.

I turn 28 next month!

Hahaha...I would have that much stuff if I hadn't moved so many times. My bags got a little smaller over the years because I hate moving a lot of stuff.

But yeah, I actually still wear socks from high school. I am 31. Don't ask me how they've help up so long, because I have no clue. I even saved a pair of pants from high school because I want to fit in them someday. I am finding that some of this stuff from my 20s doesn't fit as well now, unfortunately. Like the shirts are too short because of my fat gut. And what the hell was I planning on doing with this sparkly halter top? It's not like I go clubbing now. Haha.

I kept mine in plastic tubs I got from Lowes.  LOL.  Anyway, it all went to good will before I was done, so it didn't really matter.

Comgrats!

Thanks! Good call on the plastic tubs. Yes, lots of my saved clothes are now destined for Goodwill.
