Artificial sweetener
Those of you who can't handle things that are sugar free what do/did you do? I have terrible problems with anything sf giving me serious gastrointestinal problems. I'm only on day 1 of 3 of the liquid preop diet and I feel like I'm getting to much sodium from all the broth. Tried sf jello and it did not sit well.
A lot of people have GE issues with artificial sweetners post op (I know I sure do!). I have found that natural sweetners, like Truvia, don't give me troubles like sugar alcohols do. As far as pre-packaged things like jello, I'd say avoid them if they're giving you trouble... Sorry that I don't have a better answer :(

Honestly, since I was so limited, I didn't worry about sugar free 100% of the time during clear liquids... My surgeon just told me to stay hydrated no matter what. I drank a lot of Isopure (required by my program), broths (I used low sodium campbells soups and just strained out all of the solids), and naturally sweetened popsicles.
Besides that, my clear liquid phase only lasted 3 days before I was moved to full liquids for 10 days... I was blessed to not have to deal with it for very long. Everything that I've ever read on here in the year+ that I've been on this forum is that the clear liquid phase is where we earn our stripes. You just have to suck it up and deal with it, as bad as it sucks :( Boredom in exchange for healing.

You can drink more than just broth , jello, and popcicles on a clear liquid diet. Check with your doctor but here is a link to the Mayo Clinic's clear liquid diet:http://www.mayoclinic.org/clear-liquid-diet/art-20048505
