Hi Everyone,

I'm dying. My intestines are in constant turmoil right now, rumbling and grumbling and are making me miserable. I am 6 days out. My butgave me the ok to take M.O.M. I have been able to go three times in the past six days and they have all been unimpressive amounts of diarrhea. I know there is a lot more in there as evidenced by the agony I am in.

What did you do or take this early on? I need relief!

Prune juice (4 oz.) every morning has been my saving grace!  I know it has sugar, but its natural and i refuse to take a laxative on a regular basis.  Sometimes i add metamucil fiber, but not every day and I try to drink as much fluid as I can possibly can.

I think I will try the prune juice. I don't want ro get hooked on laxatives or stool softeners.

I second this. I drank 2 oz. prune juice for a few days and it helped.

Unfortunately, the best "medicine" I've found for this (I have a diabetic preteen who has many issues with this) has carbonation in it :/

I found I need to take miralax daily to keep things moving.  I find that 1/2 dose a day works for me.

I've started taking a stool softener (generic Dulcolax) and it has worked well.

Senokot.......at only 6 weeks post op, I had one REALLY bad episode so now even if it at all feels like it could become an issues I pop one at bed time and by morning I am good to go.

Remember too, if you're a new post-op, and certainly if you had a liquid diet for any great length of time pre-op...

liquid in, liquid out.

There won't be much stool accumulated for a decent BM. Watery, liquid BMs and the occasional tiny stool will be about the most of it for now, until you're back on something more solid.

Baby steps. I am 8 days post-op myself and I've had one BM in about 10 days... even with the M.O.M. (as my clinic recommended). There just isn't much to come out at the moment; most of it is in the form of urine.
